It is important to remember that in order for the types of things I describe to be tics, that they must be repetitive in the sense that you will see your child doing these things over and over again throughout the week, month or even day. In this post, I will outline and summarize two of the main types of tics that are warning signs for TS+ in a younger child anywhere from the ages of 2 years old to a middle school-aged child. Some other co-morbid disorders that can come along with TS are ADD, ADHD, mood disorders such as bipolar disorder, Asperger’s Syndrome, rage issues and other disorders as well. I myself have OCD, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Sensory Processing Disorder, and Panic Attack Disorder (although I haven’t had a major, full-fledged panic attack in about two years), and impulsivity issues also known as disinhibition. They like sweat and alcohol, too. This winter break, I have spent some time thinking about why I wasn’t diagnosed sooner and why my mom did not see the early warning signs as warning signs as part of the larger picture for a TS+ child.įor those of you who are unfamiliar with the term TS+, it stands for Tourette Syndrome in combination with the co-morbid conditions that commonly come along with Tourette. “Mosquitoes are also attracted to bacteria on your skin, which may explain why they are drawn to ankles and feet, where bacteria can settle,” he adds. Studies also show that mosquitoes are attracted to people with blood group O, a higher metabolism and a higher carbon dioxide production rate. Those who produce natural ‘attractors’, such as higher levels of chemicals like lactic acid, can attract mosquitoes from a distance of up to 115 feet, says herbalist and adviser to Puressentiel oils, Dr Chris Etheridge. “Some people produce natural repellents in their body odour which make them less attractive.” “It’s all to do with genes and the way you smell,” says Dr Logan. Why do some people get bitten more than others? Interestingly, it’s only females that bite and sting. To survive! “There are two main categories – those that bite to reproduce, such as mosquitoes and ticks, and those that sting as a self-defence mechanism, like bees and wasps,” says bite expert Howard Carter. In rare cases someone can have an anaphylaxis from a bite or a sting that requires immediate medical attention.ĩ99 should be called if you have difficulty breathing, nausea, a fast heart rate, dizziness or difficulty swallowing after a bite or sting.
